Yep! Another Blog…Again

This quite a challenge for me! It’s my third attempt at a blog and while I may have gotten pretty good at recording my reflections on race, culture, politics and public policy, the actual process of designing a blog is quite a challenge. I’ll do it better over time, so please be patient with me.

I’m starting this project, because I believe that I still have much to say, and am challenged by constraints of conventional social media platforms – Facebook, twitter and the like – and want to have the freedom to write longer form opinion pieces and share some source materials that some people buzzing by on Facebook (for instance) don’t have, or take the time, to read. I’ve been working on a book, but to be honest, that takes a long time (I love and admire authors) and although I’ve written on already (Civic Sermons), I’m losing a little patience with that format right now. Perhaps I will include some of the themes of the current project I’ve been working on in this blog!

Because I am freed from the constraints of my previous work as a public policy director of a nonprofit, I’m want to state now, that these reflections and opinions are my own. Meaning that they are the opinions of a Black man, unfiltered, sometimes raw, but always the result of an informed perspective on where we are as a race, as a culture, as a state (Texas) and as a nation. I’m hoping you will find them interesting. Of course I want everyone to agree! But realizing how unlikely that is, I hope to make you think!

I really hope to be connecting this blog to other platforms and have an even more expansive presence in the ‘techno atmosphere’ so look forward to some surprises. The longer I stay at this. It won’t all be serious. I think posts will actually be fun, but most of all, I just enjoy sharing what I and providing some sharp reflections on some of the things I care deeply about and about which I am interested and curious.

I want to encourage you to follow my postings. Agree. Disagree. Discuss with friends. Share. Reflect and most importantly THINK! I will try and make reflections interesting and sometimes (or often) provocative.

So here we go! Another blog…again! I hope you keep reading!
